Halloween is a spooktacular time of year that all kids get excited about.
For this Halloween we thought we’d share some tips so you and your kids can enjoy the treats and keep your teeth healthy!
1. Have a game plan.
Before you start trick or treating, make a game plan with your kids! Setting a limit of treats-per-day will help minimize the exposure to sugars and sticky candies. It is best to limit snacking and stick to particular times. Constant snacking increases the risk of tooth decay and erosion which can lead to cavities.
2. Treats can be the dessert.
After enjoying a healthy meal, you can save the Halloween candy as dessert.
3. Check your treats.
Checking your kids’ treats when you get home can make sure everything is safe to eat and doesn’t contain any ingredients that your child may be allergic to.
4. Brush, floss and rinse.
Most importantly brushing and flossing is the best way to keep your gums and teeth healthy. If you can’t brush immediately after, drinking a glass of water after eating a sugary treat will also help wash away some of the sugars and acids.
5. Have Fun!
There are a lot of fun activities during Halloween. Enjoy time with your family and friends!
